Williamson wins award and McLaren F1 test

London: Britain`s Lewis Williamson will follow in the tracks of compatriots Jenson Button and David Coulthard after winning a Formula One test with McLaren.

The 21-year-old Scot was named as winner of the McLaren Autosport BRDC (British Racing Drivers Club) award at the magazine`s awards ceremony on Sunday night.

Previous winners include 2009 champion Button and former McLaren driver Coulthard as well as double Indy 500 winner Dario Franchitti.

Williamson, runner-up in the Formula Renault UK series, also won 100,000 pounds ($157,800) to further his career.

Germany`s Sebastian Vettel was named international racing driver of the year after last month becoming the youngest Formula One title with Red Bull at the age of 23.

Sauber`s Japanese driver Kamui Kobayashi was honoured as the rookie of the year, an award that Vettel, Button and McLaren`s Lewis Hamilton have all won in the past, after a vote of autosport.com readers.
