Ace shuttler from Arunachal Pradesh Laa Tukum bagged silver medal in the 28th National Sub-Junior Badminton Championship at Rohtak, Haryana after going down fighting to M Meiraba of Manipur in straight games in the final.

Itanagar: Ace shuttler from Arunachal Pradesh Laa Tukum bagged silver medal in the 28th National Sub-Junior Badminton Championship at Rohtak, Haryana after going down fighting to M Meiraba of Manipur in straight games in the final.

Number one ranked Meiraba beat Tukum 21-19, 21-16 to win U-13 boys single gold medal, said Arunachal State Badminton Association (ASBA) Secretary Bamang Tago here today.

Tukum, had defeated Jaitidya Pratap Singh of Chattishgarh 21-18, 21-13 in the second round, Chaynit Joshi of Uttarakhand 21-12, 21-13 in the quarterfinal and Suraj Chokroborty of West Bengal 22-20, 21-13 in the semifinal before he lost his gold medal.

Meanwhile, the organizing committee of the Second Dorjee Khandu Memorial State Open Badminton Championship held its final review meeting here yesterday.

Over 360 players from various districts and clubs of the state are expected to participate in the tournament beginning here on September 12, organizing committee Chairman Tadar Apa informed, adding that "preparations are underway in full swing for the ensuing championship".
