Amir Khan apologises to supporters after Garcia thrashing

London: Bolton-based Amir Khan has apologised to his family, friends and supporters after getting humiliated at the hands of massive underdog American boxer Danny Garcia on Saturday during their double championship match in Las Vegas.

Khan admitted he got complacent and took the current WBA and WBC light-welterweight champion lightly during their bout.

“Can I apologise to my family, friends and everyone. I got caught with a shot and I know millions of you are upset but that’s boxing for you,” The Sun quoted Khan, as saying.

“I got a little complacent. Danny took advantage and caught me. After watching the replays a little bit, I thought I was coming in with my hands down and Danny made the most of it,” he added.
Khan, after his third career defeat, admitted it wasn’t his night, and said the referee made the right call by stopping the fight.

“It wasn’t my night but I was a little surprised the referee stopped it. My mind was clear and my legs were okay but I respect the referee and the judges. Maybe they made the right call,” Khan said.
