London: British boxer Amir Khan is hoping that he may finally be in line for his dream bout with American boxing legend Floyd Mayweather following his win over Luis Collazo in Las Vegas.
The Bolton boxer easily outpointed Luis Collazo in Las Vegas and still has reportedly got sights firmly set on a boxing bout with the undefeated world champion. According to the BBC, Khan said that people definitely want to see that fight between him and Mayweather. Khan said that Mayweather is fighting guys who are strong, but style make fights and added that his style would cause the world champion a lot of trouble. Khan, who knocked Collazo down three times in the non-title bout despite fighting for the first time after a 13-month lay-off, believes that the time is right for him to face Mayweather. Khan said that Mayweather, who beat Marcos Maidana on points on the same MGM Grand card to unify the WBA and WBC welterweight belts, is getting older and showing a lot of mistakes that he didn`t used to do, which makes it a great time to catch him. The British boxer also said that Mayweather looks beatable and a lot of people want the fight now because they want a young lion to come up and watch the world champion get beaten, adding that the only person who has the chance to do that is he himself. Khan said that he is very, very close to the Mayweather fight and added that the fight will happen because the public will demand that fight.
