Bangalore: Bangalore would play host to the World Wheelchair and Amputee Games 2009 scheduled from November 22 to December 2.
Local organisers expect 1,200 athletes, including some 200 Indians, from 62 countries, to take part.
The games would feature 10 competitive events, including athletics, wheelchair racing, swimming, volleyball and badminton, said Rathan Singh, President of Paralympic Committee of India, which is organising it in association with the International Wheelchair and Amputee Sports Federation.
The last edition was held in Brazil in 2005.
The budget for organising and hosting the games is pegged at Rs 22 crore, officials said.
I`ve always said the person who wins the world championship this year is the person who does the best job on the circuit, but that does not seem the way it is at the moment.
