Panaji: The Basketball Federation of India (BFI) would be selecting the national team that will compete in the Lusofonia Games (sports event for Portuguese-speaking countries) to be held
in Goa next month.

BFI officials on Sunday said that selections will be held on the December 23?and 24?at Don Bosco High School in Panjim.

BFI coaches Scott Fleming, Chansoria and Abdul Hamid Khan will be travelling to Goa to conduct selection sessions.

"The Federation has been conducting training camps over the last few weeks. We are aware of the potential and talent which exists in the local basketball players," said Roopam?Sharma, BFI CEO.

India may face stiff competition from Angola, Portugal and Mozambique at the Games, officials think.

The selected players would also play in the 29th Federation Cup National Basketball Championship, to be held in Mumbai early next month.
