New Delhi: Miffed at not being selected for the Asian Games, woman boxer L Sarita Devi on Friday tried to return her Arjuna award to Sports Minister M S Gill, who promised to look into her grievances after a week.

Sarita, who lost to five-time world champion M C Mary Kom in the trials held here a couple of weeks ago, met Gill on Fridayat his residence to return the Arjuna award that she won last year.

"I met him with the Arjuna Award with me today to give it back to him," Sarita said.

"He told me not to return the Arjuna Award and said he will look into the matter after the Commonwealth Games opening ceremony. He said he has lots of complaints to deal with," she added.

"He asked me to give him seven days to look into the matter. He gave me a patient hearing and so I am looking forward to the selection trial being repeated. Otherwise, I still stand by what I have said," she said

On its part, the Indian Boxing Federation reiterated that the selection trial was fair and there was no bias against anybody.
