New York: Rival world super lightweight champions Danny Garcia and Lamont Peterson will fight each other in New York in April, but neither American will be risking his crown in the showdown.

Garcia, 29-0 with 17 knockouts, will risk his unblemished record against Peterson, 33-2 with one drawn and 17 knockouts, to decide divisional bragging rights at 140 pounds (63.5kg) on April 11 at Brooklyn`s Barclays Center.

The fight will be staged at a catchweight of 143 pounds, so neither Garcia`s World Boxing Association and World Boxing Council crowns nor Peterson`s International Boxing Federation title will be at stake.

Garcia, who has owned the WBC and WBA crowns since beating England`s Amir Khan in 2012, is coming off a second-round knockout of countryman Rod Salka last August at the Barclays Center, the site of three of his past five bouts.

"It`s an honor to be fighting back in Brooklyn where I`ve experienced some of the best moments of my career," said Garcia. "Fans have been asking for this fight for so long and on April 11 I`m planning on giving them the show they`ve been waiting for."

Peterson stopped Puerto Rico`s Edgar Santana last August on the same card as Garcia in his most recent ring appearance.

"This is an amazing opportunity for me," Peterson said. "I`m going to go out there and give the performance of a lifetime. Danny Garcia better not underestimate me, because my time is now."
