New Delhi: England`s Allister Carter became the sixth cueist to withdraw from the World Snooker Indian Open commencing here on Monday.
The 2013 German Masters champion and World No.15 Carter was scheduled to play the winner of wild card round match between India`s Kamal Chawla and Rod Lawler. The main draw field will be without one of the most flamboyant characters of pro snooker, veteran Tony Drago from Malta, who along with Carter, China`s Yu Delu, Anthony Hamilton, Kyren Wilson and David Gilbert pulled out of the tournament. Due to the withdrawals of Carter and Wilson, Chawla, should he win his wild card round against Lawler, moves straight into the second round as also Chandra who goes up against Robbie Williams. As per professional snooker regulations, a pullout attracts a penalty of 250 pounds.
