New Delhi: All the stadiums for the 2010 Commomwealth Games will be ready before 31 July and the National Capital will hold successful Games, Delhi Lieutenant Governor Tejendra Khanna said on Saturday.

If the CWG fails to hand over the venue on August 1, the Olympic Committee will take over all the projects from there on and try to complete it on time.

On August 1, the agencies constructing Commonwealth Games venues are supposed to hand over the finished stadia, Games Village and other sites to the Organizing Committee, which will then start crucial overlay work to ready these sites for the event.

Despite the promise, most of the works for laying underground cables and drainage works are running behind schedule in most parts of the city, particularly in Karol Bagh and Paharganj.
