Delhi, Uttar Pradesh reach playoff in National Volleyball Championship

Delhi and Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday produced a dominating show, notching up easy victories against Jammu and Kashmir and Chattisgarh respectively, to advance to the play offs of the 62nd Senior National Volleyball Championship here on Wednesday.

Uttar Pradesh defeated Chattisgarh 3-1 to top their pool, while Delhi mauled Jammu & Kashmir 3-0 to cruise to the play offs. Omveer Mann dictated the terms in the first set by attacking furiously for Uttar Pradesh but the second set proved dramatic for them as there were lot of errors in their attacks and defense. In the third set, Libero Mushir strengthened first pass and defense which was enchased by Naveen and Rohit on the net as Uttar Pradesh finished the game 25-19, 19-25, 25-17, 26-24 in their favour. In another match, Delhi dominated the show as Nipun Dagar and Shekhar played a highly controlled game and helped the team win the match 25-19, 25-12, 25-22. In women`s category, Railways thrashed Tamil Nadu 3-0. Priyanka Bohra and Soumya left no stones unturned for Tamil Nadu but could not stop Railways from winning 25-11, 25-20, 25-16. In another match, Gujarat defeated Bihar by 3-0 in a lop-sided encounter where the former dominated the game in every aspect and finished 25-1, 25-4, 25-11.
