First venue operation team of the Games set up at Talkatora

New Delhi: The first venue operation team of the Commonwealth Games was set up on Friday at the Talkatora Boxing stadium where the 57th Men`s National Boxing Championships begins on Saturday.

The team, to be headed by IPS M S Upadhye, will have 80
members from OC along with 500 volunteers.

Talking to reporters on the setting up of the first venue
operation team of the Games, Organising Committee chairman
Suresh Kalmadi reiterated that India will deliver the
best-ever Games.

"Every venue has been outstanding. We have the best Games
Village which is better than Beijing. Now we are in the final
stages of preparation. There is still lot of work to be done,
no doubt but we will deliver the best Games," Kalmadi told

"We have learnt a lot from the Test events, they were a
big boon for us. The megaevent will also prepare an Indian
team for future Games to be hosted by the country," he said.

Various other operation teams will be shifted to their
respective stadium soon, Kalmadi said.
