Ranchi: In a bid to encourage sporting talents, the Jharkhand sports ministry is planning setting up a separate fund to meet the expenditure of those participating in outstation events, state Deputy Chief Minister and Sports Minister Sudesh Mahto on Tuesday.
"The sports ministry is planning a proposal for the separate funds in the next budget," Mahto told reporters.
"Now too the government helps sportspersons whenever required," he clarified.
Mahto hailed Prakash Padukone`s `Gold Quest` initiative that had funded Sania Nehwal`s participation in a championship in Hong Kong which she won recently.
Jharkhand has a good stream of talent in archery, boxing and chess, besides ace archer Deepika Kumari who won double gold in the New Delhi Commonwealth Games.
