Gurusaidutt, Sindhu storm into finals

Mumbai: Second seeds R M V Gurusaidutt and P V Sindhu surged past their foreign rivals with a fair degree of comfort to enter the men`s and women`s singles finals of the USD 15000 Tata Open India International Challenge badminton tournament at the NSCI courts, on Saturday.

Guru beat back the challenge of unseeded Indonesian Shesar Hiren Rhustavito in straight games 21-12, 21-8 to earn a shot at top seed and defending champion Alamsyah Yunus, also of Indonesia, in tomorrow`s final.

Yunus quelled fighting Arvind Bhat, the Indian third seed, 21-17, 21-13 in the other semi-final that lasted 44 minutes. The lanky Sindhu, the women`s title-favourite after the pull-out of top seed Eriko Hirose of Japan, looked impressive when fashioning a 21-16, 21-14 victory in just 30 minutes over third seed Chan Tsz Ka of Hong Kong in the singles semi-final.

Sindhu will meet Sayali Gokhale, seeded 8th, in an All-India women`s summit clash following the 2009 national champion`s 21-15, 22-20 victory over last year`s winner P C Thulasi, the 7th seed, in the other semi-final.
