Gymnastics federation names 19-member squad for CWG

New Delhi: A 19-member Gymnastics squad was announced for the upcoming Commonwealth Games to be held here from October 3-14.

The Gymnastics Federation of India named seven gymnasts each in men`s and women`s Artistics categories. Five players were selected in the Rhythmic section.

The selection committee comprising of Gymnastics Federation of India President Jaspal Singh Kandhari, General Secretary Kan Singh Rathore, Chairman Selection Committee Lt Col Joginder Singh, Govt Observer S Sarbir Singh, Members Selection Committee P S Virk and Kamal Bhandari met here and finalised the squad for the mega-sporting event.

The meeting was also attended by Vladimir Chertkov, Foreign consultant coach.

The team selected for the Games as under:-

Men Artistics Gymnastics: Ashish Kumar, Partha Mondal, Mayank Srivastava, Rakesh Kumar Patra, Rohit Jaiswal, Alok Ranjan and Vivek Mishra.

Women Artistics Gymnastics: Deepa Karmakar, Priti Das, Debjani Samanta, Meenakshi, Roma Dilip Jogalekar, Diwja Asher and Paromita Das.

Rhythmic Gymnastics: Kshipra Joshi, Akshata Shete, Pooja Surve, Mitali and Prabhajot Kaur.
