New Delhi: In the backdrop of reports of
Shunglu Committee naming Delhi Lt Governor Tejinder Khanna for
inadequacies, his office today said it had sent a report to
Prime Minister`s Office explaining the situation under which
they took a decision to give a bailout package to Emmar MGF
which was constructing Commonwealth Games Village.
Sources said the decision to provide a bailout package
for the company was taken in consultation with the Union Urban
Development Ministry and it was taken keeping in mind the
"national interest and pride".
The DDA has given a bailout to Emmar MGF after it
approached the agency saying it cannot go ahead with the
construction as they were facing fund crunch. The DDA
allegedly bought 333 flats at a higher price.
Reports said that the Shunglu Committee which looked
into the Commonwealth Games projects had pointed fingers at
Khanna and other officials in connection with the bailout
given to Emmar MGF.
