New Delhi: The final of the Hero Hockey Champions Trophy 2016 will be played between Australia and India following a dramatic final day of action on Thursday in London.
The Kookaburras defeated India 4-2 in their last pool match which almost ended Asian champions' chances of playing in their maiden Champions Trophy final yesterday.
But a favourable result from the Great Britain-Belgium match gave India the right to play in the title clash, against Australia.
In the six-team tournament, a result was needed from the Britain-Belgium match for either team to leap-frog India in the points table and play the final after Australia ran away with four wins from five matches.
India, with two wins and a draw, have seven points against the World Champions' 13.
Germany and Britain are third and fourth with a win and three draws each, ahead of Belgium and South Korea.
