India, Japan, Thailand, Iran progress in women Kabaddi WC

Patna: India, Japan, Thailand and Iran moved into semi-finals of the first women`s World Cup Kabaddi championship on the third day of the tournament at the Patliputra Sports complex here.

India defeated Indonesia 65-20 to clash with Japan in the semi-finals on Sunday.

In a neck-and-neck contest, Japan trounced Bangladesh 17-15 in the quarter finals to storm into semi finals.

Thailand beat Sri Lanka 30-18 while Iran outclassed Korea 40-16 registering a comfortable win on Saturday.

India would now take on Japan and Iran would clash with Thailand in semi-finals tomorrow.

The final would also take place tomorrow after a cultural function.
