New Delhi: Shivam Shukla and Sumedh Kumar on Monday helped the Indian junior shooting squad bolster its medal tally to nine in the ongoing 2nd ISSF Junior Cup in Suhl, Germany.

At the end of Day 3 of competition, India's medal tally stood at two gold, four silver and three bronze.

Shivam Shukla, who won a double gold medal on the first day in the 25m Standard Pistol event, continued his impressive showing, combining with Achal Pratap Grewal and Rushiraj Barot in the 25m Rapid Fire Pistol to bag his first silver medal of the competition.

The trio shot a total of 1669 for the effort. Russia won the gold with a total score of 1672 while the French team came in third with 1658.

Sumedh Kumar, fresh from his silver medal winning feat in the recently concluded 25th Shooting Hopes competition, did an encore in the 50m Pistol event, finishing with an eventual score of 184.1. His Russian nemesis in the Shooting Hopes, Evgeniu Borovoi, did him in once again, this time by margin of 0.4 points to win the gold. The bronze medal was won by another Russian, Alexander Bassariev, who shot a total of 164.3.

India's third medal of the day, came in the form of a bronze in the junior men's 10m Air Rifle Team event. Pratik Borse, Prashant and Akhil Sheoran finished third with a combined score of 1848.9. Team Russia won the gold again with a score of 1862.6, while the team from Switzerland won the bronze medal with a score of 1850.
