India to defend title in Asian Senior Men`s Volleyball C`ship

Kolkata: Defending champions India will vie
for top honours against Asian number one Iran among others in
the third Asian Senior Men`s Volleyball Championship (Central
Zone) to be held in the Netaji Indoor Stadium here from
September 16-20.

There will also be participation from Kazakhstan and
Pakistan in the tournament which was last won by India in the
second edition held in Islamabad in 2007.

Iran and Kazakhstan finished second and third

With few top teams featuring in the central zone, there
was no tournament in the past two years, said West Bengal
Volleyball Association (WBVA) joint general secretary Rathin
Roy Chaudhury.

Top two teams will compete in the Asian Championship to
be held in Iran next year.
