India topped medals tally at the first ever South Asian Beach Games held in the southern coastal Hambantota beach.

Indian contingent won 11 gold, nine silver and seven bronze to finish with 27 medals. Hosts Sri Lanka won nine gold, 10 silver and nine bronze medals. The Games, which got underway on October 8, featured over 500 participants from Afghanistan, Bangladesh, India, Nepal, Bhutan, Pakistan, Maldives, besides hosts Sri Lanka. The next South Asian Beach Games will be held in Maldives in 2013. PTI
