India win three more silver in Asian Youth Weightlifting

New Delhi: India added three more medal on the second day of the Asian Youth Weightlifting Championships with woman lifter Pramila Krisani bagging three silver in 53 kg category at Pattaya, in Thailand on Tuesday.

Pramila won a silver each in snatch (68kg), clean and jerk (89 kg) and total lift (157 kg).

She missed out on a gold as her total lift was the same as that of eventual winner Thailand lifter Naruephon Saenchek`s effort but had to settle for the silver as she had more bodyweight.

Saenchek had a bodyweight of 50.80 kg as compared to Pramila`s 52.55kg.

Saenchek lifted 65kg in snatch, 92kg in clean and jerk and 157kg in total to run away with three gold.

Park Min Kyung of Korea won three bronze with efforts of 70kg in snatch, 86kg in clean and jerk and 156kg in total.

With the three silver medals, India`s tally swelled to six silver. On Monday, Purnima Chanu won three silver medals in 48kg girls’ category to open India`s medal account.

India are being represented by 11 lifters, including five girls, in the Asian Youth Championships.

The competition will be followed by Asian Junior Championships in which 15 Indians, including seven women, will be taking part.
