Iranian Idani wins gold at youth chess worlds

Tehran: Pouya Idani of Iran won a gold medal at the World Youth Chess Championships in Al Ain, United Arab Emirates.

Idani won the under-18 category with eight points after 11 rounds, following a half point draw with second place Nijat Abasov of Azerbaijan Saturday, reports Xinhua.

About 1,800 players took part in the Dec 17-29 championships.
