New Delhi: Indian shuttlers Ajay Jayaram, RMV GuruSaidutt and HS Prannoy reached the second round of the Vietnam Open after securing contrasting wins in their respective openers at Phan Dinh Phung on Tuesday.
The fifth seed Jayaram, who reached the quarterfinals of the World Championship early this month, beat Kian Meng Tan 21-11, 19-21, 21-11 in an hour-long clash. The world number 29 will next face local player Ha Anh Le.
Gurusaidutt of Andhra Pradesh beat Christopher Flores 21-15, 21-9. He will take on Soon Huat Goh of Malaysia in the second round on Wednesday.
Promising shuttler Prannoy H S also notched up a difficult 21-18, 18-21, 21-19 victory over Malaysian Chong Chieh Lok in the opener to set up a clash with fourth seed Alamsyah Yunus of Indonesia.
However, Saurabh Varma lost 23-21, 14-21, 16-21 to Yun Lung Chan in the first round.
Aditi Mutatkar, PV Sindhu and Arundhati Pantawane will compete in the women`s singles on Wednesday.
