Chennai: Maharashtra`s Kabil Badami and Ishpreet Singh maintained consistency in winning three and two league matches respectively in different groups in the SVS All India Junior Invitation Snooker tournament on Monday.
Playing his first match in Group A, Kabil Badami defeated local lad K Rakesh 3-0 and then survived tough situations to get the better of German Girish (Karnataka) 3-2.
Kabil Badami rounded off the day with a straight-game win over Varsha Sanjeev (Karantaka) in the third match.
On the other hand, Ishpreet took his time to settle down before beating Tamil Nadu`s B Jagadesh 3-2 and later defeated his state-mate Rahul Sachdev 3-1.
In Group-D, Peter Paul, former national champion, took the first frame comfortably against Ashutosh Pandhey of Odisha while the second frame was stretched till the black ball.
Pandhey fought back to level the score two all and the deciding frame was a one-way traffic where Peter won the frame and match with ease.
In the sub-junior section, Shrikrishna upset three-time national title holder Varsha Sanjeev of Karnataka 3-1, while local lad E Sundarraj outclassed Nikhil Pise of Karnataka in straight frames.
