New Delhi: There was more trouble for beleaguered Commonwealth Games Organising Committee chief Suresh Kalmadi and his aids as the Central Bureau of Investigation feels that they are hampering with the ongoing probe that was set up to look into the alleged corruption in the sports mega event. Cabinet Secretary K M Chandrasekhar was told by the central agency that Suresh Kalmadi and his aids, particularly OC Secretary General Lalit Bhanot, were proving to be an impediment in the enquiry.Sources told a newspaper that this “request” was written by CBI director A P Singh who has been briefed on the progress of the CWG-related cases and the problems in the probe. The mega sporting event held in October was the centre of numerous controversies and the OC has been embroiled in several accusations of corruption, mismanagement of funds and non-deliverance.Last week, many of the vendors who had provided their services to the smooth running of the CWG opening and closing ceremonies had expressed disgust at the non-payement of bills long after they were due.
