Raipur: Kerala and Railways clinched the men`s and women`s titles respectively in the 60th Senior National Volleyball Championship on Wednesday.
For the Railways, this was their fourth triumph on the trot and 27th overall as they continued their dominance to thrash Kerala 25-12 25-14 25-16 in less than an hour.
But the Kerala men`s team brightened up the camp when they ended Uttarakhand`s dream run with a clinical 25-22 25-22 25-13 win in one hour 12 minutes to annexe the title after 11 years.
Four-time champions Kerala had last won the Nationals in Raipur in 2001.
It was a heartbreak of sorts for Uttarakhand who had dreamt of their only second title at the Nationals after denying favourites Tamil Nadu a hattrick with their brilliant semifinal victory.
Champions in Chautala 2002, Uttarkahand had last entered the final in 2009, only to go down to Tamil Nadu.
It was a forgettable outing for Tamil Nadu as the heavyweights failed to even keep the third place, going down to Services 20-25 25-21 23-25 26-28.
In the women`s section, Bengal women won the third place defeating Andhra Pradesh 25-20 21-25 25-23 28-26.
