Wuhan (China): World No.1 badminton player Lee Chong Wei of Malaysia is keeping relaxed ahead of the London Olympics and says he doesn`t want to put pressure on himself in the run-up to the mega event.
Lee enjoyed an easy 21-13, 21-10 victory over unheralded Jacob Malieka of South Africa in the first group match of Malaysia at the Thomas Cup here, while Malaysia sailed past South Africa to secure a quarter-final berth together with Denmark in Group C. "I was just trying to find the rhythm in the opener of Thomas Cup as my opponent was not so strong," said Lee. The Thomas and Uber Cup team Championships are the final big events ahead of the London Games. Four years ago at the Beijing Olympics, hot favourite Lee lost the men`s singles final to China`s Lin Dan. "People are supposed to think I should win a gold medal in London, because I only got a silver in Beijing," said Lee. "But I don`t think so, I just believe that if my preparation is good enough, then the result will not be bad." Malaysia will play against Denmark for the group winner Tuesday. Denmark also beat South Africa without conceding a single set. Malaysia have to beat Denmark to avoid playing against the top seed China before the semi-final stage. IANS
