Lee Chong Wei`s injury not serious

Wuhan (China): Diagnosis showed that Malaysia`s World No.1 shuttler Lee Chong Wei`s ankle injury is not a serious one and he should recover in two to three weeks` time.

Lee Tuesday unexpectedly twisted his right ankle at the start of his Thomas Cup match here against Danish veteran Peter Gade. Leading 2-0 in the first set, Lee hit the shuttle at the back court and twisted his right ankle.

Lee quit the Thomas Cup after the injury and went back to Malaysia to receive therapy. According to the results of the diagnosis shown Thursday, Lee`s ankle injury is not serious.

"He just needs to rest for two or three weeks before going back to training," said Joe Lee, Chong Wei`s brother.

Lee Chong Wei lost to China`s Lin Dan in the final at the Beijing Olympics. With two months remaining for the London Games, Lee`s injury puts the brakes on his preparation for the Olympics.

Without Lee, Malaysia lost to China in the quarterfinals 0-3 at the Thomas Cup Wednesday.
