Mayweather eyes 2012 boxing clash with Amir Khan

London: Boxer Amir Khan has been offered a possible showdown with superstar Floyd Mayweather Junior next year.

The US promoters who guide light-welterweight world champion Amir Khan’s career have penciled in a date for November 2012, with a potential fight between Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao also being suggested for next May.

Khan will try to unify his WBA title with the IBF belt held by Zab Judah in Las Vegas on July 23.

If he is successful, Golden Boy Promotions hope he can face Erik Morales in December and then take part in an all-British clash with Kell Brook, a daily reports.

Golden Boy chief executive Richard Schaefer says the prize could then be a fight with Mayweather.

“I’ve talked with Mayweather and his adviser, Al Haymon, and they’re definitely open to a fight with Khan,” said Schaefer.
