MP Academy won all India women`s hockey tourney

Bhopal: Hosts Madhya Pradesh Academy won the
all-India Women`s Hockey tournament by defeating Shahbad
Academy 2-1 in a keenly contested final.

Madhya Pradesh yesterday shot into the lead in the 21st
minute when Manjari Pandey converted a penalty corner. At
half-time, the hosts led 1-0.

However, Shahbad Academy levelled the scores in the 57th
minute when Harpreet Kaur scored off a penalty corner.

The match was heading for a draw but Jameela Bano scored
a brilliant field goal in a penalty shoot-out to make her team
win by 2-1

.

17-year-old Jameela Bano who is the centre-forward for
Madhya Pradesh academy was adjuged the player of the
tournament.

Chief Miniser Shivraj Singh Chouhan gave away prizes on
the occasion to various teams and players.
