Nandita ousts Mouma, Sharath Kamal in semifinals

But Mouma made up for her shock loss in the singles when she clinched two titles later in the evening by winning the doubles and mixed doubles on the penultimate day of the tournament at the Netaji Indoor Stadium here. Mouma partnered Pooja Sahasrabudhe in the doubles while in the mixed doubles she emerged triumphant with Sourav Chakraborty.The duo of Devesh Karia and Jubin Kumar won the men’s doubles title. Last year’s runners-up Sourav Chakraborty of PSPB also made a shock exit, going down to R Abhishek of Tamil Nadu in the quarterfinals, while earlier in the day third seeded Subhajit Saha of PSPB went down to a promising Soumyajit Ghosh (North Bengal). Giant-killer Ghosh, who was the first Indian to clinch a medal in the World Junior Table Tennis Championships in mixed doubles December last year, continued with his winning momentum as he ousted higher-ranked Pathik to seal his semi-final berth. In quest of his fifth straight and sixth overall title, Achanta Sharath Kamal did not have to sweat much as he cruised to the last-four round. PTI
