Mumbai: The Bombay High Court refused to grant any immediate relief to Mayur Sinhasane, a weightlifter, who moved the court after not being shortlisted for the upcoming Commonwealth Games.
Division bench of Justices DD Sinha and Mridula Bhatkar merely admitted the petition, which means it will come up for final hearing in due course. The court declined to pass any interim order, whereas Commonwealth Games are set to start on October 3.Sinhasane, a national-level weightlifter, had contended that selectors` panel formed by Indian Weightlifting Federation did not shortlist him in the core group of 32 players, from amongst whom the final squad will be selected. His contention was that he was ranked third in the recent national championship at Udaipur, yet he was not picked up.However, the selectors told the court that they picked up only the winner and the runner-up from the championship.
