Bangalore: The Para Athletics National Championship 2012, which is also a selection trial for London Paralympics, is all set to be held at Sree Kanteerava Stadium from March 26 to 28 here.
Besides selection trials for London Paralympic Games, the event will also act as trials for the forthcoming Malaysian Open Athletics Championship to be held from April 20 to 27.
About 800 athletes from 24 states will be seen in action during the championship, organised by Karnataka Sports Association for Physically Handicapped under the aegis of Paralympic Committee of India & Para Athletic Federation of India.
There will be about 156 events in five categories for Ambulants, Wheelchair, Cerebral Palsy, Visually impaired and Dwarf category.
Athletes like Jagseer Singh from Rajasthan, who is Arjuna awardee and gold medallist in Guangzhou (China) Para Asian Games, Mahabeer Singh from Punjab, Sandeep Singh Mann from Rajasthan, Sharad Kumar of Bihar, H N Girisha of Karnataka, Thirumalai Kumar of A P, Ranjith Kumar of TN and other core probable of London 2012 Paralympics will take part in this championship.
The event will be organised by technically qualified officials and photo finish camera will be installed for the first time in a Paralympic Athletic Event in our country.
The doping test will be conducted for the athletes by NADA.
