Prisoners plotting CWG officials’ murder beaten

New Delhi: Two prisoners, who had created sensation by claiming that they were supplied with arms to kill Commonwealth Games Organising Committee officials inside the jail, alleged before a court here that they were beaten up for spilling the beans.

Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Sunil Chaudhary directed Delhi police to seize CCTV footage and inquire into the allegations levelled by Amit and Nishant.

"Both the complainants filed fresh application that they were given beatings in jail complex by other inmates. The ACP is apprised about the same and is directed to recover the CCTV footage from cameras installed in jail complexes to verify the allegations and take necessary action and if required shift them to Rohini courts," the court said.

It asked the police officer who was investigating the matter to file a report on January 29.

The court is conducting its own probe into allegations ofthe duo that they had been given weapons by some Tihar jail officials to kill two Commonwealth Games organising committee officials who were then lodged in the high security prison on
corruption charges.

The duo had in December created a flutter by alleging that they were supplied with the arms to eliminate CWG officials.

A knife was also recovered allegedly at their instance from the jail premises.

Three former CWG organising committee officials T S Darbari, M Jayachandran and Sanjay Mahendroo, who were then in judicial custody, are now out on bail in connection with the cases registered with regard to corruption in organisation of the mega sporting event.
