Punjab wins team gold in Federation Cup gymnastics

New Delhi: Punjab bagged the team gold in the rhythmic gymnastics event of the Federation Cup Gymnastics Championship which began here on Saturday.

Punjab duo of Prabhjot Kaur and Kiran Jit Kaur bagged overall first place in the team championship with 128 points at the Indira Gandhi Indoor stadium. Maharashtra`s Sidhi Sawant, Madura Tambe and Shriya Makwana combined together to secure the second spot with 121 points in the championships, a test event for the upcoming Commonwealth Games.The third position in this section went to Andhra Pradesh girls M Neha, C Kavya and B Gauthami who managed 92 points. In the Individual all-round championship, Prabhjot Singh of Punjab won the pride of place with 59.8 points.Second individual all-round best was accorded to Sidhi Sawant of Maharashtra with 50.5 points while third position in this category went to Madura Tambe (48.5).
