New Delhi: The dream of former India captain Rajpal Singh and Arjun Halappa to play in the Olympics was over Monday as they were left out from the 48-member list of probables for the 2012 London Games named by Hockey India (HI) here.
HI selectors Balbir Singh, B.P. Govinda and Syed Ali along with government observers Harbinder Singh and Dilip Tirkey, and chief coach Michael Nobbs picked the probables.
A day after eight-time Olympic champions India booked the berth in London Games, HI said the national camp will start from March 5 and will be held at the Sports Authority of India (SAI) Centre in Bangalore.
HI also said that the national team, which had for the first time in 80 years missed an Olympics at Beijing in 2008, will be playing several international tournaments in the run-up to the London Games to be held July 27-August 12.
The India team has received invitations for two four-nation meets in Lahore, Pakistan, and in Santander, Spain. India are also likely to take part in Olympic test events in London and the Sultan Azlan Shah Cup at Ipoh, Malaysia.
