Doha: Katinka Hosszu set her second world record in the space of 24 hours as she claimed the 200m backstroke title in 1 min 59.23sec at the World Short-Course Swimming Championships in Doha on Friday.

The swimmer has lived up to her `Iron Lady` nickname by bouncing back from being completely upstaged by Spaniard Mireia Belmonte on the opening night to clinch 100m backstroke gold in a world record time on Thursday.

And on Friday she added the 200m mark, digging in down the final 25m to become the first woman under two minutes in the event and taking 0.80secs off Missy Franklin`s mark from October 2011.

It is the ninth world record to tumble in the five-day event at the Hamad Aquatic Centre.
