Dehra Dun: The inaugural edition of the South Asian Federation (SAF) winter games, scheduled to be held in Uttarakhand early next year, has been shortened by three days.

The decision to curtail the number of days was taken during a meeting between officials of Indian Olympic Association and Winter Games Federation of India (WGFI) following requests by players of other countries especially Pakistan and Afghanistan, WGFI president Brig (retd) S S Patwal said on Friday.

The two countries had requested for a shortened meet as they had been facing problems in getting visa for that period.

Patwal said the games will now be held from January 9 to 16, in Auli and Dehra Dun, instead of Jan 7 to Jan 17.
