Saina Nehwal rates 2015 as one of her best seasons

New Delhi: Ace Indian shuttler Saina Nehwal feels the on-going season has panned out as one of the best years of her professional career.

Nehwal, who attained the world No. 1 ranking this year for the first time, termed the season as 'one of the successful years.'

Currently placed 2nd in world rankings Nehwal, however, feels that injuries took a toll on her performance. “It was one of the successful years for me....I was not free from injuries, so I could not give my best besides getting so many golden opportunities. I wish I would have been fully fit,” the 25-year-old was quoted as saying by Ibnlive.com.

“Number one ranking is also not very static among women players; it goes on changing, which shows all of us want to be No. 1, so the healthy competition goes on among us.” Nehwal added.

Apart from holding the world No. 1 spot for eight to nine weeks, Saina also won her maiden India Super Series 2015 title and reached the finals of World Championships, All England Badminton Championships and Chinese Super Series.

Saina is currently nursing a leg injury she sustained during the Hong Kong Open Super Series last month.

However, the shuttler is now looking forward to playing in Dubai World Super Series Finals, scheduled to be held from December 9-13.
