Sathish creats 3 national records in National Youth Weightlifting

Sathish Kumar set three new national records in the boy`s 77kg
category on the concluding day of the fifth National Youth
Weightlifting Championships here today.
Kumar lifted a total of 281 kg (124 kg in snatch; 157 kg
in clean and jerk), a national record, to win the gold medal.
His efforts in snatch as well as in clean and jerk were
also national records. The previous record stood in the name
of B Rajkumar of Andhra Pradesh, who lifted 273 kg in October
2005 at Imphal.
Indian Weightlifting Federation, however, said it would
not be able to ratify the records as National Anti-Doping
Agency had not sent a dope testing team for the championships.
IWF Secretary B R Gulati said he had informed the Sports
Ministry and NADA much in advance to send a dope testing team
for the event but no weightlifter had so far been tested.
"Under rules the medal winners need dope testing but
surprisingly NADA had not sent any dope testing team here. We
won`t be able to ratify the national records in the absence of
