Shiva Thapa, Manoj Kumar can win gold at Rio Olympics: Vikas Krishan

New Delhi: Indian pugilist, Vikas Krishan, who has recently sealed an Olympic berth with a bronze-medal finish at the recently-concluded AIBA's World Qualifying Tournament at Baku, is confident of winning a bronze medal at Rio.

Krishan is among one of the three Indian boxers, who have managed to qualify for the Rio Games.

"I have a feeling that I will win a bronze medal at the Rio Olympics. I will have to win two bouts to bag a bronze. I am hoping to get a favorable draw as my world ranking is decent and hopefully I won't face tough boxers in my first two rounds," Vikas was quoted as saying by PTI.

Vikas also hinted that it could be his last Olympics and that's why he is eager to win a medal for the country.

"I'm determined to give my best at Rio as it is going to be my last Olympics," the 24-year-old boxer from Haryana added.

Last year eight Indian boxers had qualified for the Olympics, but this time around, just three boxers sealed the Rio berth.

However, Vikas felt: "We have a small but a very good team. Both Shiva Thapa and Manoj Kumar are very good and capable of winning medals. In fact, those two can get gold."
