New Delhi: Indian Olympic Association (IOA) vice president Tarlochan Singh has written to the IOC, saying that its members should excuse themselves from contesting elections in the national olympic body.
In his letter to the International Olympic Commitee (IOC) president Jacques Rogge, Tarlochan took no names but apparently referred to Randhir Singh, who is an IOC member and is said to be contesting elections for IOA president`s post.
"I feel that IOC member should not be seen or act as factional leader and not take sides whenever there is any voting takes place. This will enhance his/her status and respect," the letter read.
"Every NOC office bearer and member`s ultimate desire is to become IOC member. If one achieves that he should not indulge in the elections of the NOC. He should however accept any position if house elects him unanimously," the letter added.
IOA elections are scheduled to be held on November 25 and the fight for the post of president is between Randhir, who is current general secretary, and Abhay Singh Chautala, president of the Indian Boxing Federation.
