Tibetan girl bags gold for China at World Wrestling C`ship

Shimla/Dharamsala: A 23-year-old Tibetan girl has scripted history by winning a gold medal for China in the World Wrestling Championship at Istanbul, Turkey and qualified for 2012 London Olympics.

Shelok Dolma won gold for China in the 67kg category of Women`s Freestyle Wrestling after defeating her Mongolian opponent Oyunsuren Banzragch in the final bout on September 16, reports reaching here said.

Dolma became the first Tibetan ever to achieve the feat in the World Wrestling Championship in which more than 900 wrestlers from 104 countries competed.

"It was a surprise for Dolma that she won gold at her international debut, barely six months after she won silver at the National Wrestling Championship in April and it is moment of pride for all of us," said Dolma`s coach Dorje.
