New Delhi: Former WWE champion CM Punk's MMA debut didn't go as planned after he was forced to submission by Mickey Gall after just two minutes into the duel.
The former wrestling star, though defeated, made his intentions of continuing career in the UFC known in the post match interview.
Despite the unwanted outcome from the fight, CM Punk kept his fans hopeful of his success in the UFC with such an inspirational speech.
Having announced his decision to compete in the UFC in 2014, the Chicago-born fighter made his debut in September 2016 and is vowing to continue the tricky MMA journey and make his name known in the sport.
A post-fight press conference also revealed the pre-match conversation between CM Punk and Mickey Gall.
In the pre-match antics, Punk rebuffed when Gall attempted to shake hands at the weigh-ins just 24-hours ahead of UFC 203.
Though Punk made his intentions known with the pre-match showing, he didn't expect to return defeated from the bout without posing much challenge.
Speaking on the handshake rebuff scenario, Mickey Gall said,
"When he didn't shake my hand and he was giving me that hard look I said 'you're an actor, you're still acting'." I said 'we're fighting tomorrow, you know what's going to happen, I'm going to hurt you' and then he kept staring at me as I walked off, I said 'keep looking at me'."
Despite being beaten by Gall, Punk only had words of encouragement for his opponent at the UFC 203 post fight press conference.
"In interviews and stuff like that, he would say things speaking about himself like he didn't belong in the UFC and he didn't belong on the main card."
"I told him everyone else is going to say that about you throughout your entire career, why are you going to say that about yourself?
