New Delhi: Disappointed at the quarterfinal exit in the ongoing Asian Badminton Championships here,
India`s ace mixed doubles player Jwala Gutta said she and her partner V Diju were not intelligent enough to end up on the winning side today. Top seeded Jwala and Diju campaign was cut short by Chinese combination of Zihan Qiu and Qing Tian, who stunned the local favourites 21-15 11-21 14-21 in the quarterfinals here. "I won`t be able to sleep tonight. It is really disappointing. I was confident all through out the match and was really pumped up. We tried everything but things just didn`t click for us. We were not intelligent enough," said Jwala after the loss. Jwala`s partner Diju had developed a stiff back during the match but the 26-year-old Hyderabadi girl said she was not aware of her partner`s injury and came to know about it only after the match. "He had developed a stiff back, so he was having problems while moving forward. He was smashing well but he was feeling a little pain at the back. I was not aware of it and he told me only after the match," a visibly disappointed Jwala said. "If he would have told me during the match, we could have done something different, could have taken some other strategy. I think we have to communicate better," she said. Diju has been suffering from a recurring stiff back and could train for just two weeks before the tournament. PTI
