Oklahoma City Thunder star guard Russell Westbrook, sidelined for two months after right knee surgery, practiced with the team Wednesday, the eve of its showdown with reigning NBA champion Miami.
The Thunder have not yet said whether Westbrook, who has undergone three operations on his right knee in an eight-month span, will be able to play when the Heat visit Oklahoma City on Thursday.
"We`ll see how he feels tomorrow," Thunder coach Scott Brooks said.
Having Westbrook on the court for a workout alongside NBA scoring leader Kevin Durant for the first time since December 25 was a step in the right direction for the Thunder, who own the NBA`s best record at 43-12.
Oklahoma City has gone 22-8 without Westbrook, including a 112-95 rout of the Heat on January 29 at Miami.
Westbrook, a three-time NBA All-Star, is averaging 21.3 points, 7.0 assists and 6.0 rebounds over 25 games this season and his return should lighten the scoring load Durant has carried upon his shoulders much of the campaign.
Westbrook tore the meniscus in his right knee while colliding with Houston guard Patrick Beverley in the Thunder`s second playoff game last April.
A loose stitch after surgery caused the knee to swell last October, forcing a second operation. Westbrook missed only two games before returning on November 3 but he went under the knife again after the knee swelled in December.
