New Delhi: Mixed martial arts exponent Brock Lesnar became the latest sportstar to be handed a doping ban following two drug failures ahead his UFC 200 main event fight against Mark Hunt which took place on July 9 earlier this year.

The former WWE and UFC heavyweight champion was tested positive for a pair of anti-estrogen drugs – clomiphene and hydroxy-clomiphene – in both an out-of-competition drug sample collected on June 28 as well as a second sample taken on the night of the fight.

The 39-year-old has been given an one-year retroactive ban, starting from the date of his fight with Hunt, and was also fined $250,000 for the infraction. His win also will be overturned to a no contest. Besides, he is likely to receive a similar suspension from the USADA (United States Anti-Doping Agency).

The fine, reportedly, is equalled to 10-percent of Lesnar’s $2.5 million earnings from the Hunt fight.

It was his return bout after a five-year absence in UFC, and has since got back to WWE. He famously took on Bill Goldberg on November 20 at the Survivor Series.

It's very unlikely that he will return to the octagon, but would be eligible to fight in UFC as early as July 9 next year.
