Taylor to lead New Zealand in third ODI despite being hit by stomach flu
Pallekele: Captain courageous Ross Taylor is expected to lead New Zealand in Tuesday night’s third one-day international in Sri Lanka despite having been laid up in hospital last night (NZ time).
Taylor and Andrew Ellis suffered from gastroenteritis during New Zealand’s Duckworth-Lewis loss in Pallekele.
Taylor top-scored with 72 from 62 balls despite vomiting before he went out to bat.
All-rounder Ellis returned to the team hotel after being unable to bowl. New Zealand Cricket last night said the two players were being treated for dehydration at the local hospital but were due back at the hotel this morning, Stuff.co.nz reports.
The country`s cricket board says the two players showed symptoms of stomach flu during the rain-affected, second one-day international at Pallekele International Stadium on Sunday.
Taylor was expected to be fit to play tonight but Ellis would be assessed closer to match time, the report said.
