Warner in awe of opening partner Cowan’s ‘calmness’

Warner in awe of opening partner Cowan’s ‘calmness’Sydney: Australia batsman David Warner has praised his opening partner Ed Cowan, branding him as a smart cricketer, who helps him play his natural game in a Test match as well as stay calm during the course of a match.

Warner has scored three hundreds in 13 Tests and has a strike-rate of 71.39 runs per 100 balls, compared to Cowan`s 43.18, News.com.au reports.

Warner said one of the qualities of Cowan is that he can identify periods where he needs to remind him to keep playing his shorts but also keep in mind that lunch is around the corner.

Warner said whenever Cowan is under pressure he always finds out a way to keep blocking that is around him, and added that it is amazing to have Cowan as his opening partner.

Warner added his fellow left-hander’s average stats so far in Test cricket are not a big issue and he brings more to the table than raw numbers. The swashbuckling batsman also said that Warner is doing a great job as an opener for Australia in Test cricket.
